COVID-19: PIMA COUNTY JUSTICE COURT CHANGES
By: Judy Drickey-Prohow
The court informed us today that all eviction cases – on every basis – that are filed on or after April 1, 2020 will be given the next available dates based on past practices. This means that, depending on the court’s workload, we should receive dates for initial hearing within one week after the case is filed.
At this time we anticipate that most of these hearings will be held telephonically in order to encourage social distancing, but we will advise clients if that is not possible.
Residents may still request a delay in the hearing date or service of a writ of restitution based on factors associated with the COVID-19 epidemic, and those requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Cases that were originally filed in March and were rescheduled to May dates will still keep their May 2020 court dates unless they are re-filed on or after April 1, 2020
Any person who has questions about a proper protocol or who needs additional assistance is strongly encouraged to contact legal counsel at any time.
