COVID-19 - POSSIBLE DELAYED COURT HEARINGS
With the continuance of the eviction moratorium and the continued safety measures in place with the Court we are experiencing delays in getting court dates. Unfortunately, courts are limiting the number of cases they are hearing and some courts not allowing us to select the date of the hearing and, instead, are requiring the Firm to send down the summons without a hearing date. This results in the court selecting the hearing date for the eviction, often times on a date different than we would have selected had we been able to request the first available court date. For those courts which we have been permitted to put the court date in the summons, some of the courts are arbitrarily changing the court date, causing confusion as to the date of the hearing as compared to the information on our client portal. We are trying to work through this with the court and will try to ensure that, if and when court dates are changed, we get advanced notice of that to allow for an update to the client portal. We realize that all of these hurdles are causing a significant inconvenience and are doing everything within our power to get the first available court date. We hope that this will soon pass and that we will be able to resume normal eviction operations shortly.
If you have any questions regarding your rights or any limitations, please do not hesitate to contact our Firm for further assistance.
